Dog Grooming Services in Spennymoor
Every appointment at Hello Grooming is one-to-one, calm and tailored around the dog in front of me. I groom small and medium dogs and some larger breeds, with services ranging from regular full grooms and bath and tidy appointments to puppy introductions, de-shedding, nail care, specialist brachycephalic grooming and Emmi Pet teeth cleaning.

Full Groom
A full groom is tailored to your dog's breed, coat condition and individual requirements. It can include a shampoo treatment chosen for their coat and skin, conditioning where needed, a blow dry and thorough brush out, clipping or styling where required, ear and facial cleaning, wrinkle care where appropriate, a nail trim, paw tidy, sanitary trim and a little cologne.
There may also be a soothing nose and foot balm for those paws and noses that deserve a little extra TLC.
Full grooms are typically around two hours, although larger dogs, more complex coats and dogs who need a slower approach can require up to three hours. I don't rush a dog simply because the clock says an appointment should be finished.
Bath and Tidy
A bath and tidy provides the same thoughtful coat and skin care without the full coat styling. It is ideal for dogs who need a freshen up, brush out and general maintenance between fuller grooming appointments.
Appointments are commonly around an hour, although every dog is different.
De-Shedding
Short coats don't necessarily mean no grooming. Pugs, Labradors, Beagles, Staffies and many other shedding breeds can benefit from professional de-shedding to remove loose coat and keep skin and coat comfortable.
A de-shed can also be a more appropriate option than unnecessary shaving for many double-coated breeds.
Nail and Foot Care
Nail care is one of my most popular additional services and something I have undertaken specific training in.
Overgrown nails can affect how comfortably a dog stands and moves. I can also check and tidy excess hair around the paw pads where appropriate. If you've started hearing a little tap-tap-tap across your hard floors, it might be time for a paw appointment.
Puppy Grooming
Puppy appointments are about much more than a haircut. They introduce handling, brushing, bathing, drying, paws, nails and grooming equipment slowly and positively so that grooming becomes a normal part of life.
Nervous Dogs and Meet & Treat Sessions
Some dogs need more time before they are ready to be groomed, and that is absolutely fine. A Meet & Treat gives your dog an opportunity to sniff around, investigate the cabin and meet me without immediately expecting them to complete a full groom.
Specialist Brachycephalic Grooming
Pugs, French Bulldogs, English Bulldogs and other flat-faced breeds can have particular grooming and handling requirements. My specialist training and personal experience with Nero have shaped the way I care for these wonderful dogs.
Emmi Pet Teeth Cleaning
I offer Emmi Pet ultrasonic teeth cleaning following specialist training. Dogs begin with an assessment and gentle introduction so we can establish whether they are comfortable with the toothbrush and whether this type of maintenance is suitable for them.
A Routine Dogs Can Learn to Trust
I try to perform each groom in a calm and consistent way. In my experience, many dogs become more relaxed when they begin to understand the routine and know what is likely to happen next.
Water is always available. The cabin is well ventilated and kept at a comfortable temperature, and there is an outside area where dogs can have a break when needed.
Restraints are used only when they are necessary for safety. Where I can groom safely without them, I will. I am particularly mindful of elderly and brachycephalic dogs and adapt handling to the individual dog.
How Often Should My Dog Be Groomed?
There is no single schedule that suits every breed and coat. For many dogs, six to eight weeks is a useful general guide, while curly, high-maintenance or rapidly growing coats may need more frequent appointments.
I'll happily advise you on a schedule that suits your own dog's coat, lifestyle and grooming needs.
